The firm was formed in 1991 by Ron Hogan and John Cox. Previously they had both been members of the property litigation department of a large City firm, Nabarro Nathanson. Creating a truly niche property litigation firm broke the mould. Then as now Dewar Hogan is the only law firm to specialise exclusively in property litigation and is recognised as one of the leading firms in the field. Comments included in Chambers Guide to the UK Legal Profession include, "unique" and lawyers who, "get on with the job quickly and always produce good results."
In 1995 the firm was instrumental in forming the Property Litigation Association. Ron Hogan was the Association’s first chairman.
Since its formation the firm has represented clients ranging from listed plcs to private investors to individuals. The one thing they have in common is that they want to be represented by lawyers with confidence and ability
As well as Ron Hogan and John Cox the firm has three assistant solicitors, all of whom trained with the firm.
